Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Ardmore, Oklahoma, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while delivering positive experiences for pets and their parents. Successful completion of PetSmart’s Grooming Academy unlocks this position, setting you on a path to full Pet Stylist certification.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, maintain client records, and promote salon services to drive sales. Ensure salon cleanliness, pet safety, and humane conditions. Respond to pet health issues and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling, customer service, organizational prowess, communication, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.

- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, nail trims, and grooming services per PetSmart standards
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness and pet safety protocols
- Promote salon services and merchandise to meet sales targets
- Assist in other store departments and respond to pet emergencies
