Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver outstanding pet parent experiences. This entry-level position builds foundational skills in a dynamic pet retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions with daily maintenance.
- Engage pet parents: greet, answer questions, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions.
- Drive salon sales by promoting services and merchandise to meet targets.
- Ensure pet safety, respond to health issues, and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, and composure under pressure. Computer proficiency required.
