Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Asheville, North Carolina, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role involves learning industry-best grooming techniques while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive salon experiences. Obtained after completing PetSmart Grooming Academy, it's perfect for passionate animal lovers starting their grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
- Enhance pet parent experience through greetings, consultations, reservations, check-in/out, and reminder calls.
- Drive salon sales by recommending merchandise, services, and wellness solutions.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure pet safety—escalating issues like sick pets immediately.
- Assist other departments and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand for shifts, and work in a pet-hair-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, holidays required; computer proficiency essential.
