Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction. Located in Augusta, Maine, this position offers a pathway to a rewarding career in pet care.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist across departments while ensuring pet safety.
Daily Operations
- Handle client records, reminder calls, and rebookings.
- Identify and address sick/injured pets promptly.
- Uphold sanitation checklists and humane conditions.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy for certification. Strong communication, organizational skills, and flexibility for evenings/weekends required. Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand for long periods, and work in a pet hair-filled environment essential. Proficiency in computers and composure under pressure a must.
