Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Augusta, Georgia location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role, obtained after completing PetSmart Grooming Academy, involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and consultations. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to meet targets, maintain salon cleanliness, ensure pet safety, and assist other departments. Follow all company policies while participating in our culture of recognition.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping in a pet hair-filled, moderately noisy environment.

- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet environment (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bath, brush, grooming, nail trims, teeth brushing under PetSmart standards
- Develop safe technical grooming skills meeting company expectations
- Recommend health/wellness solutions and merchandise to pet parents
- Manage pet parent experience including check-in/out, reservations, and consultations
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety; perform daily maintenance
- Promote salon sales, achieve targets, and assist other departments as needed
