Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart’s experienced Professional Styling teams. Obtained after completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, this entry-level position builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence in our Aurora, Ohio location.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills exceeding company expectations.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and promote salon sales.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, reminders, and client records.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues.
- Assist other departments and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred with a possible technical exam. Successful completion of PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification required. Ideal candidates have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, communication abilities, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical stamina to lift 50+ pounds in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment.
