Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level position builds foundational skills while contributing to store operations and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Promote wellness solutions, salon sales, and merchandise. Ensure salon cleanliness, pet safety, and immediate response to sick/injured pets. Assist other departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Demonstrate safe technical skills, composure under pressure, and proficiency in computer applications. Strong communication, organizational abilities, and flexibility for evenings/weekends required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and working in a pet hair/wet environment with moderate to high noise.

- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair environment (experience)

- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
