Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart's Grooming Academy, you'll work under expert supervision to master bath, brush, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, exceptional customer service, salon hygiene, and driving salon success while upholding our vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services including nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and promote sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and respond to pet health issues promptly.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, and client communications effectively.
- Collaborate across departments and participate in store culture initiatives.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required—complete our technical exam and Academy training to qualify. You need strong organizational skills, composure under pressure, physical stamina to lift 50+ pounds, and flexibility for evenings/weekends. Proficiency in computers, safety focus, and excellent communication are essential.
