Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level position builds foundational skills in grooming while contributing to store operations and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Maintain salon cleanliness and humane conditions, following daily maintenance checklists.
- Engage pet parents with consultations, recommendations, and sales of wellness products.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, and client records accurately.
- Respond to pet health issues and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate strong communication, organizational skills, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical ability to lift 50+ pounds in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Computer proficiency and composure under pressure are essential.

- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
- Conduct appointment reminders and maintain client records
