Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Avondale, Arizona, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a skilled Pet Stylist.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, maintain client records, and recommend wellness solutions. Ensure salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with pet emergencies or other store duties as needed.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Conducting check-in/out procedures and reminder calls
- Maintaining humane conditions and sanitation standards
- Team lifting up to 100 lbs and handling moderate noise levels
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; must pass PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, ability to stay composed under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends required. Strong communication, organization, and pet-handling skills essential. Physical demands include standing, lifting 50+ lbs, and working in wet, pet-hair environments.
