Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Barrie, Ontario, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services like bathing, brushing, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with sick/injured pets or other departments as needed. Follow all policies for a safe, humane environment.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, attention to safety, computer proficiency, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and depth perception.

Responsibilities

- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-ins, and check-outs
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
