Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. Located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, you'll engage pet parents and contribute to store cleanliness and sales goals.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-in/out procedures. Recommend wellness solutions, promote merchandise, maintain salon sanitation per checklists, and assist with sick/injured pets. Support other departments as needed and follow all company policies.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications, composure under pressure, strong communication, and organizational skills. Physical demands include standing, lifting up to 50 pounds (team lift 100+), working in wet/hairy environments with moderate to high noise. Flexible schedule required for evenings, weekends, holidays.
