Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's expert grooming teams. After completing our Grooming Academy, you'll deliver top-tier salon services under supervision while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level position is perfect for animal lovers eager to develop professional grooming skills in a dynamic retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Under guidance, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments via phone and in-person, handle check-ins/outs, and drive salon sales. Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, monitor pet health, and assist other departments as needed while upholding company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply); must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and working in a pet-filled environment. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays essential.
