Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Beaverton, Oregon location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role is perfect for passionate animal lovers eager to learn industry-best grooming techniques through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Uphold our vision of exceptional pet care while building skills in a dynamic retail salon setting.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, maintain client records, and drive salon sales. Ensure salon cleanliness, pet safety, and humane conditions, while assisting in other store areas as needed. Respond swiftly to pet health issues and follow all policies.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Greeting pet parents and handling reservations/check-ins
- Performing end-of-day maintenance and sanitation
- Promoting merchandise and services to exceed sales goals
- Participating in a culture of teamwork and recognition
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a wet, noisy environment with pet hair. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, and holidays required; computer proficiency essential.
