Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from industry-leading groomers through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Under supervision, you'll master bathing, grooming, and salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional customer experiences. This entry-level position is perfect for animal lovers eager to launch a grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, and teeth brushing per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and upsell services/merchandise.
- Handle salon operations including greetings, reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and reminder calls.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues.
- Drive salon sales targets and assist in other store areas as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. You need strong communication, organization, and pet-handling skills, plus flexibility for evenings/weekends. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and reaching. Proficiency in computers and composure under pressure are essential.
