Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Belleville, Illinois, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams through our renowned Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe grooming skills while delivering exceptional salon services under supervision. Uphold our vision of pet safety, cleanliness, and outstanding pet parent experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and promote salon sales/merchandise.
- Handle reservations, check-ins, check-outs, reminder calls, and maintain client records.
- Ensure salon cleanliness, pet safety, and immediate response to sick/injured pets.
- Assist other departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible scheduling required including evenings/weekends/holidays.
