Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams through our renowned Grooming Academy. This entry-level position builds foundational skills in best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions, performing daily maintenance.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and emergency pet responses.
- Collaborate across departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Need strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical stamina (lifting 50+ lbs, standing, wet/hair-filled environment). Flexible availability essential. Proficiency in computers a plus.

- Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays (experience)
- Capacity to lift 50+ lbs and handle physical demands (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, and grooming services including nail trims and sanitary care
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
- Promote salon services and merchandise to meet sales targets
- Assist in other store departments and respond to pet emergencies
