Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Benton Harbor, Michigan, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence. Obtained after completing academy training, it's perfect for passionate animal lovers ready to launch a grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-in/out procedures. Promote sales, recommend wellness solutions, maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, and respond to pet health issues. Assist other departments as needed and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, holidays required; computer proficiency essential.
