Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage with pet parents and their pets, delivering best-in-class salon services while learning industry-leading grooming techniques. This entry-level role shares responsibility for store cleanliness, pet safety, and recommending solutions for pet parents.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-in/check-out procedures. Promote salon sales, recommend merchandise, maintain salon sanitation, and ensure humane pet conditions. Assist in other departments as needed and follow all company policies.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred; technical exam may be required. Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification. Proficiency in computer applications, strong communication skills, ability to react under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and organizational skills with attention to detail and safety. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled environment.
