Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under supervision from expert stylists, mastering safe techniques for baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet parent engagement, salon operations, safety, and driving salon success while upholding PetSmart's vision and values.
Key Responsibilities
Under guidance, deliver full grooming services per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls. Recommend wellness solutions and merchandise to boost sales. Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions, including end-of-day checklists. Ensure pet safety by identifying issues and coordinating vet transport if needed. Assist other departments and participate in store culture.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling under pressure, strong communication, organizational prowess, computer proficiency, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-hair-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.
