Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming after completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Under supervision from industry-leading stylists, you'll learn best-in-class techniques while delivering exceptional salon services, ensuring pet safety, and enhancing pet parent satisfaction in our Bolton store.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Build safe technical skills and recommend wellness solutions based on pet needs.
- Handle pet parent interactions: greetings, reservations, check-ins/outs, consultations, and sales promotion.
- Maintain salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues.
- Support store operations, sales targets, and other departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, computer skills, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs. Passion for pets and composure under pressure required.

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and team lift over 100 pounds (experience)
- Proficiency in computer applications (experience)
- Capacity to react under pressure and maintain composure (experience)
