Role Overview

The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under expert supervision to master bath, brush, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, exceptional customer service, salon hygiene, and driving salon sales while upholding our mission, values, and Belonging culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver supervised grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
• Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, handle reservations, check-ins/outs, and promote services/merchandise.
• Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and perform end-of-day maintenance checklists.
• Ensure pet safety, respond to health issues, and assist across store departments as needed.
• Participate in sales targets, client record management, and reminder calls.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, computer skills, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled setting. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
