Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in Bourbonnais, Illinois, you'll train under experienced Professional Stylists in PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering industry-leading grooming techniques while delivering exceptional salon services and ensuring pet safety. Advance to Pet Stylist upon successful completion of training.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, provide full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records.
- Recommend wellness solutions, promote services/merchandise, and drive salon sales targets.
- Uphold salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane conditions for all pets.
- Respond to pet health issues, assist other departments, and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Strong communication, organizational skills, and ability to work under pressure required. Must handle physical demands like lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and working in a pet-filled environment. Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays essential.
