Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams through our renowned Grooming Academy. This entry-level position builds foundational skills in best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision of pet safety, cleanliness, and exceptional pet parent experiences. Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations and recommend wellness solutions based on pet needs.
- Handle pet parent interactions: greet, answer questions, manage reservations, check-in/out, rebooking, and reminder calls.
- Drive salon sales by promoting services and merchandise to achieve targets.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane pet conditions; respond to sick/injured pets.
- Assist other departments and adhere to all policies.
Experience & Skills
PetSmart prioritizes trainable talent. Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply), but completion of our Salon Academy is key. You need computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), organizational skills, and strong communication. Physically, expect standing, lifting 50+ lbs, working in wet/hairy environments with moderate noise.
