Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level position builds foundational skills while contributing to store operations and sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and client records.
- Recommend wellness solutions, merchandise, and services to boost sales and meet targets.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions; handle sick/injured pets promptly.
- Assist other departments, follow policies, and participate in our culture of belonging.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key traits: computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong organization, attention to detail/safety, and excellent communication. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), standing, stooping, and depth perception.
