Role Overview
Our Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide top-tier salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level position is perfect for animal lovers eager to build a rewarding career in pet grooming.
Key Responsibilities
Under guidance, perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments and reservations, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with pet health issues by coordinating vet transport if needed. Participate in store-wide duties and uphold our culture of Belonging.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply); must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Physical ability to stand, lift 50+ lbs, work in wet/noisy environments, and flexible scheduling for evenings/weekends/holidays essential. Passion for pets and safety is a must.
