Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under expert supervision to master bathing, brushing, nail trims, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, exceptional customer service, store cleanliness, and driving salon success while upholding our vision of Anything for Pets.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and promote services/merchandise for sales growth.
- Maintain impeccable salon hygiene, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane conditions for all pets.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client consultations, reminder calls, and emergency pet responses.
- Collaborate across departments and participate in our Belonging and Recognition culture.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, computer skills, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled setting. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
