Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. Located in Bristol, Virginia, this position offers a dynamic start in pet care with growth potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and maintain client records.
- Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales, and drive salon productivity metrics.
- Ensure salon cleanliness and humane conditions, following daily maintenance checklists.
- Respond to pet health issues and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate strong communication, organizational skills, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical capability to lift 50+ pounds in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Computer proficiency and composure under pressure are essential.
