Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams at the PetSmart Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while engaging with pet parents and ensuring positive salon experiences. Uphold our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards in a dynamic Brooklyn store setting.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-in/out procedures. Promote sales of merchandise and services to hit targets, maintain salon cleanliness per checklists, and respond immediately to sick or injured pets. Assist other departments as needed and follow all company policies.

Experience & Skills

Successful completion of PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification is required. Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Proficiency in computer applications, strong communication skills, ability to work under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays essential. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled, moderately noisy environment.
