Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in Brunswick, Maine, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. Advance to Pet Stylist upon successful academy completion.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, maintain client records, and promote services to drive salon sales. Uphold cleanliness standards, monitor pet health, and assist across store departments as needed. Follow all company policies for a safe, humane environment.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred with a possible technical exam. Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ pounds in a fast-paced, pet-filled setting. Flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, and holidays required.

- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness and pet safety protocols
- Promote salon services and merchandise to meet sales targets
- Assist in other store departments and respond to pet emergencies
