Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart’s experienced Professional Styling teams through our Grooming Academy. Learn industry-best grooming techniques while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive salon experiences. This entry-level role emphasizes pet safety, salon cleanliness, and sales growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
- Consult with pet parents on services, recommend wellness solutions, and handle reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and rebooking.
- Maintain salon sanitation, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Drive salon sales through merchandise recommendations and promotions.
- Assist with sick/injured pets and support other store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Successful completion of PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification required. Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must have strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a wet, pet hair-filled environment with moderate noise.
