Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe technical grooming skills while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive salon experiences. Uphold our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-in/out procedures. Recommend wellness solutions, promote merchandise and services to drive salon sales, and maintain impeccable cleanliness. Respond to pet health issues promptly and assist other departments as needed.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Demonstrate composure under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail. Proficiency in computer applications required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ pounds, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled, moderately noisy environment.
