Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Burnaby, BC location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services like bathing, brushing, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with pet health issues by coordinating vet transport if needed. Flexibility to support other store departments.
Daily Operations
- Handle client records, reminder calls, and reservations.
- Ensure humane conditions and immediate action for sick/injured pets.
- Follow all company policies for safety and productivity.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand for long periods, and navigate ladders/stooping. Proficiency in computer apps and flexible scheduling for evenings/weekends/holidays required.
