Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences while upholding company values.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per standards.
- Recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain salon cleanliness and respond to pet health issues promptly.
- Greet clients, handle check-ins/outs, and assist across store departments.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy for certification. Need strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays required. Proficiency in computers essential.

- Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays (experience)
- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, nail trims, and grooming services per PetSmart standards
- Engage pet parents to recommend health and wellness solutions and upsell services
- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, client records, and reminder calls
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety throughout operations
- Promote salon sales targets and participate in store-wide duties as needed
