Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Build safe technical skills and recommend wellness solutions based on pet needs.
- Handle pet parent interactions: greet, answer questions, manage reservations, check-ins/outs, and rebookings.
- Maintain salon sanitation, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets; assist other departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling under pressure, computer proficiency, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, lifting 50+ lbs, strong communication, and organizational detail. Physical demands: standing, stooping, reaching, with depth perception required.
