Role Overview

The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
• Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
• Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and promote salon services/merchandise.
• Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, reminder calls, and client records.
• Maintain salon sanitation, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane pet conditions.
• Respond to pet health issues and assist other departments as needed.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, composure under pressure, computer proficiency, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand, stoop, and handle pets safely. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, holidays required.
