Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart’s experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you’ll engage with pet parents and pets to deliver best-in-class salon services while upholding company values, store cleanliness, and pet safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations and recommend wellness solutions based on pet needs.
- Handle pet parent interactions: greet, answer questions, manage reservations, check-in/out, and rebooking.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane conditions for all pets.
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to achieve targets while assisting other departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may be required). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling under pressure, strong communication, organizational abilities, computer proficiency, and physical capability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment with flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
