Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under supervision of expert stylists, mastering safe techniques for baths, brushes, nail trims, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, exceptional customer service, store cleanliness, and driving salon success in our Canton location.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services meeting PetSmart’s high standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and upsell services/merchandise.
- Handle salon operations: greetings, reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and reminder calls.
- Maintain impeccable salon hygiene and respond to pet health issues promptly.
- Contribute to sales goals and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.

- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
- Assist in other store departments and follow company policies
