Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence in our Carmel, IN location.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Engage pet parents to recommend solutions, manage appointments, maintain client records, and drive salon sales. Uphold cleanliness standards, monitor pet health, and assist across departments as needed while following all company policies.
Daily Operations
- Greet clients, handle check-in/out, and conduct reminder calls
- Perform end-of-day cleaning per maintenance checklists
- Identify and address sick/injured pets promptly
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Strong communication, organization, and composure under pressure required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and working in a pet hair environment. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, and holidays essential.
