Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Carolina, Puerto Rico, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a skilled Pet Stylist.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness per checklists, ensure humane pet conditions, and promote sales to hit targets. Assist with sick/injured pets and other store duties as needed.
Daily Operations
- Handle client records, reminder calls, and reservations.
- Uphold safety standards and react calmly under pressure.
- Team lift heavy pets and maintain a sanitary environment.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy and safety certification. Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills required. Be flexible with evenings, weekends, holidays; physically able to stand, lift 50+ lbs, and work in a moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled space. Computer proficiency essential.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (experience)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair environment (experience)

- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and rebooking

- Assist in other store departments and follow company policies
