Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll learn from industry-leading professionals through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Under supervision, deliver exceptional salon services while building safe technical skills. This entry-level role emphasizes pet parent engagement, salon operations, and upholding our vision for outstanding pet care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-in/out procedures.
- Recommend wellness solutions, merchandise, and services to boost sales and pet health.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions; perform daily maintenance.
- Ensure pet safety, respond to injuries, and assist across departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates have prior grooming experience (technical exam may apply) and complete our Salon Academy training. Key traits include composure under pressure, organizational skills, strong communication, computer proficiency, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
