Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll receive hands-on guidance from expert stylists. This position focuses on delivering exceptional salon services while upholding pet safety, store cleanliness, and outstanding pet parent experiences in a fast-paced retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Build safe, proficient grooming skills exceeding company expectations.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon hygiene, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and immediate action for sick/injured pets.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key traits include flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, composure under pressure, strong communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency in computer applications required.
