Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll deliver best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. This entry-level position builds foundational skills in grooming, customer service, and salon operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting PetSmart's standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls.
- Recommend wellness solutions, promote services/merchandise, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues.
- Assist other departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a wet, noisy environment. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, holidays required. Computer proficiency essential.
