Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming after completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Under supervision from expert stylists, you'll learn best-in-class techniques while delivering exceptional salon services. This position emphasizes pet safety, customer satisfaction, store cleanliness, and sales growth in a fast-paced retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and upsell services/merchandise.
- Handle salon operations: greetings, reservations, check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and record-keeping.
- Maintain impeccable salon hygiene, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Respond to pet health issues, assist other departments, and contribute to sales targets.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs in a dynamic environment with pet hair and noise. Flexible scheduling required, including evenings/weekends/holidays.
