Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Charleston, WV location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while delivering positive experiences for pets and their parents. Obtained after completing PetSmart Grooming Academy, it's the perfect launchpad for a rewarding career in pet care.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and make reminder calls. Maintain salon cleanliness, recommend wellness solutions, promote sales, ensure pet safety, and assist other departments as needed. Uphold company policies for humane conditions and immediate action on sick/injured pets.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, computer proficiency, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a wet, pet-hair-filled environment with moderate to high noise.
