Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart’s experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you’ll engage with pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level position in Charleston, SC, is perfect for passionate animal lovers ready to launch a rewarding grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with pet health emergencies. Flexibility to support other store areas ensures seamless operations.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply); must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling, customer service, organizational prowess, communication, and composure under pressure. Physical demands: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, work in wet/noisy environments with pet hair. Proficiency in computers and flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays) required.
