Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Charlottesville, Virginia, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll engage with pet parents and pets to deliver best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness per checklists, promote sales to hit targets, and assist across departments. Take immediate action for sick/injured pets and follow all policies.
Daily Impact
Ensure positive pet parent experiences in-person, phone, and at register while developing safe technical skills that exceed company expectations.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Need strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physically able to lift 50+ lbs, stand extensively, and work in wet, noisy, pet hair-filled environments.
