Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Chelmsford, MA, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level role offers a clear path to professional grooming mastery.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations while recommending wellness solutions.
- Handle pet parent experiences via in-person, phone, and register interactions; manage reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and records.
- Drive salon sales through promotions and merchandise recommendations to hit targets.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and respond to pet health issues, including vet transport if needed.
- Assist other departments and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling, organizational prowess, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled environment.
