Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Chicago, IL location, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role, obtained after completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, focuses on developing safe grooming skills while delivering exceptional salon services under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Under guidance, perform full grooming services like bathing, brushing, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, ensure pet safety, promote sales, and assist other departments as needed. Take action on sick/injured pets and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment with moderate noise and wet conditions.
