Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety, parent satisfaction, and salon excellence. This entry-level position builds foundational skills for a rewarding career in pet grooming.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues immediately.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, and client communications professionally.
- Assist other departments and uphold company policies as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate composure under pressure, organizational prowess, strong communication, and physical capability to lift 50+ pounds in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.
